Mi Li

Mi majored in fine arts at the university and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2005. She has been studying and practicing meditation and Buddhism since her early 20’s. In 2011 she started studying Tibetan Art under the guidance of the wonderful thangka Painter Ray Furminger. Under Ray’s tutelage Mi learned the traditional style of Karma Gardri, one on the two main styles of Tibetan art.  She is also a long-time student of the renowned western thangka Painter Andy Weber, who attends the Chenrezig Institute every year and holds intensive courses in traditional thangka painting.

It was there, with the guidance of both these great teachers, that Mi Li learned about Thangka painting and Tibetan Art and mastered her skill not only in drawing and painting, but also in sculpting and wood carving. Her love of Buddhism features heavily and almost exclusively in her works.
